Assignment Topic: What better way into another person's skin than a story?

Assignment: Choose any two characters, each from different texts we have studied over the course of this semester, and have one provide specific advice for the other regarding a particular aspect of their specific situation, based on the advisor's own precise experiences. You should consider and represent character development as well as explore a specific theme to earn full marks.

Idea/Outline: Character 1 (advisor) will be Ed from the novel I Am the Messenger, and Character 2 will be Uncle Nathan (advisee) from the short story The Skating Party. Since Ed's story revolves around integrity and "doing the right thing," and Nathan was faced with a situation filled with moral ambiguity, I was thinking a letter from Ed to Nathan, with Ed giving advise on how to overcome such ambiguities in the future, being that he had a few scenarios of his own throughout the novel.
