Case Study: Good writers are able to adapt their writing to their audience. For example, language that is appropriate with one audience would not be appropriate for another audience. Audience should be a significant consideration throughout the research process as well. Different audiences will respond to different arguments and different evidence. When discussing a topic with friends and family, you might make reference to a local newspaper or website, but if you are sharing information with a boss or supervisor, you might reference company documents. As a writer you should carefully consider your audience at every step of the research and writing process. It is also important to consider the sources you have found and the audience for which they are written.
