Question: Part 1: For this discussion, use the example of a client or student you have been working with at your fieldwork site. If you are like many counselors, you may have a first impression of a client that is based on your own preconceptions, assumptions, and biases, only to discover that this impression changes as you get to know the client better.

For your initial post to this discussion, select a client you will use as an example for this type of situation. Briefly describe the client, such as demographics, presenting issue, or other pertinent characteristics; remove any identifying data. Then, looking back on the work you did with this client or student last quarter, reflect on the following:

• What assumptions or biases did you have about the client or student at the start of your work together? These may be assumptions about his or her background, mental and emotional status, personality, ability to use therapy, or biases about the client based on his or her background, current living situation, presented diagnosis, and other factors. Be specific and use examples to illustrate your ideas.

• Then, describe whether your assumptions changed over time. What led you to revise your impression about this client? Were there any surprises along the way?

• Describe at least three things you have learned during your work with this student or client.

For example, this might be something you learned about yourself, your ideas about counseling, your approach, or something else. Use specific examples to illustrate your ideas.

Be sure to include at least three references from books or professional articles in the current counseling literature to support your ideas. The post needs to be at least 250 words
