Part 2: Historical Context. In this Part you
should provide relevant background information or what historians refer to as the 'historical context' of the document. In this section, you should provide information on the conditions (ie. political, cultural, economic, intellectual) in which the document was produced.
Part 3: Close reading of three or four relevant passages.
Find three quotes or passages from the document that might interest historians and tell us something about the past.
What can these specific passages tell us about the past or about a specific issue? You should quote from the source directly, making sure to introduce the passage and then interpret it.
Part 4: Limitations of the Document. To what extent and in what respects can your document provide insight into the wider historical issues that you have identified? What aspects of the document limit its usefulness? Aspects that you might consider are intended and unintended bias in the document its length and format; its scope
