Case Study: Whereas most of you have probably been to the library for many different reasons, conducting research is something that takes time and effort. In order to demonstrate a clear grasp of critical thinking and critical reading skills, you should be able to effectively consider an issue that interests you. Within that issue, you must conduct preliminary research that will give a broader view of what more refined topics pertain to that issue. It is from that point you should be able to compose an acceptable topic sentence/thesis statement.

Question 1: What aspects of research seem to be the most important? What is the most time-consuming aspect of research?

Compose a preliminary topic sentence/thesis statement that you believe will be the start of your research process for this semester's final assignment. Realize that broad issues are not topic sentences. You have to hone down a large issue such as abortion, immigration, etc. and must dig down deep in order to get to what you actually want to research. When you think that you have arrived at a topic, you're probably still dealing with a large issue. It will take a modicum of preliminary research to get to an acceptable topic. DO NOT fall into the trap of submitting something and thinking that's it. You need to keep abreast of what I provide as guidance if your submission is too broad. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOU HAVE AN APPROVED TOPIC SENTENCE THIS WEEK in order to keep on track for the rest of the semester.

Question 2: Be sure you are including full incorporation of APA formatting, ensuring that there are no spelling/grammar errors. You are fully versed at this time of your college career what is viable as acceptable in college coursework.
