Select an issue and argue your conclusion persuasively. You will use research to help you form and support this position.
Requirements:
Question 1. Narrow down your topic to fit the page requirement. For example, you could argue for change in legislation regarding emissions or advocate in your essay for a particular type of renewable energy (advocating for its benefits and countering an argument against it). Your conclusion should be measurable and specific.
Question 2. You are trying to argue a point (your conclusion) in this paper. Remember to include reasons and evidence that will support your conclusion. Each paragraph should move your argument forward and contain a claim that is supported by evidence. You should support your main argument with quotes and paraphrasing from expert assessment, statistics, rational arguments, or other supportive material. You MUST include at least six (6) sources from reputable, relevant, and recent sources.
Question 3. Think about the opposing view when writing this essay- what arguments would the opposing view make? Take those into consideration when writing this essay. You do not want to argue both sides, but rather, address one of the counter arguments in your own argument. You job is to argue why your position is correct over an opposing position.
Question 4. Do not be afraid to challenge conventional positions or beliefs. Whether or not I agree with your position will not impact your grade.
