How many countries are there in the world
Review the information provided below:
"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore."
Without a doubt, America is still the promised land for so many people living under oppressive governments. They risk their lives daily trying to gain entry into this country. Those of us who live here seem to take the freedoms we enjoy for granted or as an entitlement. The truth is, democracy is still an ongoing experiment in government, there are 195 countries in the world, many are governed by dictators or communist systems of government. Religion is not a matter of choice, and often, illegal to worship. And those like America and the freedoms it gives to it's citizens.
Somehow, the government is responsible in determining which individuals wanting to come to America are wanting to start a new and productive life from those who come to do us harm. The terrorists from the attack on the World Trade Center on 9/11 were all living in America, taking flying classes in Florida. The current position of government in America is to first control our porous borders and then work on finding a way for current immigrants to find a path to citizenship.
After reviewing the link provided, and short reading prompt above, respond with your thoughts to the following questions:
What are your thoughts on border control. Do we need a security wall to slow the illegal immigration to the United States. Should we provide a way for those here already to have a way to earn their citizenship they so long for. Do we deport those who break our laws while they are here?
