Question: Roger is a 50 year old, married, architect with two children. He spends 55-65 hours per week at work. Height = 5'11" Weight = 245 Ib Total Cholesterol = 194 mg/dL LDL = 137 mg/dL HDL = 42 mg/dL Triglycerides = 200 mg/dL Blood Glucose = 120 mg/dL Resting HR = 83 BPM Blood Pressure = 146/87 mm/Hg Waist Circumference = 43 Hip Circumference = 41 Roger indicates that he does not smoke but he has one to two glasses of wine or beer with dinner. He exercises once or twice per month and reports no leisure time physical activity. Roger admits he has gained 20 pounds over the last 2 years and suffers from obstructive sleep apnea but denies all complaints of chest pain and shortness of breath at rest or exertion. Roger's father had heart bypass surgery at 54 and suffered a fatal heart attack (myocardial infarction) at 61. His 42 year old brother is hypertensive and has type 2 Diabetes which is being treated with dietary modifications and exercise recommendations.
