Problem

You are a new nurse leader of the heart and vascular service line. You note the outcomes for this area are poor (e.g., patient experience, quality of care, labor expenses). Interprofessional relationships are strained. The equipment in the area needs to be updated. More than 75% of nurses are contract labor. The team has been unsuccessful in recruiting, leaving some RN requisitions open for up to 2 years. However, you are asked by the senior leaders to accommodate adding additional cardiovascular providers and position your team for growth.
