Some speculate that the systems and methods of working in teams are not really effective in our society - a society that values the individual so highly.

What are your views on this statement? Substantiate by examining the experiences of companies in which teamwork designs have been used.

Quality circles and self-managed (or autonomous) work teams are examples of teamwork design that have been used in many countries, including the USA. General Motors, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Xerox, Procter and Gamble, PepsiCo, and Honeywell are some of the companies that have used quality circles and/or self-managed work teams.
