Purpose

You have been asked by the CEO to investigate workforce analytics to determine how it could help support the achievement of business challenges or objectives. To help determine the steps, you will answer a series of questions, which will ultimately lead to your recommendation on an initial workforce analytics project.

Identify an organization that you are familiar enough assignment about. You can use your current workplace or an organization you have worked for in the past. If you wish to keep the name of the organization anonymous you may use a pseudonym. If you do not have a suitable organization to use for your assignments, contact the instructor as soon as possible to discuss other options.

How to Proceed

The first set of questions you have been provided by the CEO are as follows:

1. What are three significant people challenges (i.e., aging workforce) facing your organization today?

2. Are there other internal (i.e. org structure) or external (i.e., increased competition) challenges that are putting additional pressure on the organization?

3. Based upon the answers for Questions 1 and 2, two hypothesis statements to consider how workforce analytics could possibly help with these challenges. Hypotheses are informed, testable explanations or predictions. The statements might look something like: If (we "do this"), then (this) will happen. For example: If we increase salaries, then the turnover rate will reduce (Guenole, Ferrar and Feinzig, 2017, p.30). Or, if we change our recruitment methods, then we will get more/better candidates.
