Occupational Safety Health Administration, an agency of the United States Department of Labor which main function is to assure safe and healthful working conditions for working men and women by setting and enforcing standards by providing training, outreach, education and assistance. Construction is a high hazard industry that involves an extensive range of activities involving construction, alteration, and/or repair. Examples include residential construction, bridge erection, roadway paving, excavations, demolitions, and large scale painting jobs. Construction workers engage in many activities that may expose them to serious hazards. such as falling from rooftops, unguarded machinery, being struck by heavy construction equipment, electrocutions, silica dust, and asbestos. Therefore the OSHA principles help minimize the risks and the liabilities because standardize the conditions of the workers.
