Questions: A couple wants to have a child. However, they both have had Cystic Fibrosis (CF) in their families so, they want to know if there is a probability of their child inheriting CF. In this couple, Mom's genotype is AaDD for the Cystic Fibrosis alleles (as indicated above), and Dad's genotype of Aadd.
Answer the following questions based on what you learned this week:
1. Circle the correct answer. With a genotype of AaDD, would Mom show the CF disease? (YES/NO)
2. Circle the correct answer. With a genotype of AaDd, would Dad show the CF disease? (YES/NO)
3. With a genotype of AaDD, what are the two possible types of gametes produced by mom? (Hint: Use the folding method I discussed in my second recorded lecture in the previous mini lesson)
4. With a genotype of AaDd, what are the four possible types of gametes produced by dad? (Hint: Use the folding method I discussed in my second recorded lecture in the previous mini lesson)
5. Using your answers to #3 and #4 above, draw a Punnet square to show the genotypes of the children they could have.
6. If any of the children inherit CF disease, what can you tell about the severity of the disease? Would it be very severe, moderately severe, or not severe?
