Question- In a molecular beam experiment to measure collision cross-sections it was found that the intensity of a CsCl beam was reduced to 60 per cent of its intensity on passage through CH2F2 at 10 ?Torr, but that when the target was Ar at the same pressure the intensity was reduced only by 10 per cent. What are the relative cross-sections of the two types of collision? Why is one much larger than the other?

Express your knowledge to solve the above question
