The average employee in the United States is now 40 years old. Depending on your age you may view this in different ways, but one thing is evident, the workforce is aging. If you look at it historically, 40 is really on the high side. With this change comes a series of sociological issues. What are the ramifications of the aging workforce on (1) organizations, (2) workers over 40, and, (3) workers under 40. From a motivation perspective is it in our interest for society to rethink the way in which it views retirement?
