Case Study: You are a registered migration agent and run a busy practice. You are in the process of hiring another registered migration agent to assist you with your files as there are many different queries coming in that cover a broad range of issues and you are finding it difficult to be able to competently assist with the queries given the amount of time the research and analysis takes for each case. You have a number of clients today and it seems like the theme of the day is clients forgetting when their visas expire. The first client for today is a citizen from South Korea who arrived in Australia three years ago to study a bachelor's degree. He has been accepted into the Master's program and is very excited about it. He is even more excited because he has secured a scholarship to undertake the Master's program. As he was busy applying for the scholarship, he forgot when his Student (Temporary) Class TU Subclass 500 visa expired. When you speak to your client and probe a little further into his circumstances, you soon realise that he is able to commence his scholarship program next semester or even mid next semester. When you ask your client what is his preference, he advises you that he is planning to be guided by the universe, so whatever is the option at the time he needs to make a decision, he will proceed with that. At this point, he also lets you know that his main concern at the moment is to remain in Australia for the next couple of months as he had just met someone and thinks this person may be 'the one'! Your client informs you that at this point in his life, finding someone to settle down with is more important than his studies and so he reiterates that his priority right now is to stay in Australia for at least the next couple of months to see how this new relationship progresses. He is seeking your advice so as to make sure this happens. You look at his previous Student (Temporary) Class TU Subclass 500 visa and you notice that it actually expired one month ago or 31 days ago. On hearing this, your client reiterates that his main priority is to remain in Australia.
