In the fall of 2020, we were focused for weeks after the presidential election on electoral college results for Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and Pennsylvania. Because of our electoral college process, these states were key for either President Trump's reelection or Vice President Biden's win. This is the only election in our country that isn't decided by popular vote and while it didn't happen in 2020, it's entirely possible that the winner of the popular vote for president could lose the election through the electoral college (for example, Hillary Clinton in 2016).

While this is for an election at the federal level of government, the impact of the electoral college process on each state is profound. We're pleased to be joined today by "your name" who is going to help us sort out the issues in the debate over the electoral college process.

First, could you please tell us why our founding fathers first adopted the electoral college process?
How are the number of electors in any given state determined?
Is the electoral college process still relevant today or does our system for election of the president need to be changed?
Why did swing states like Arizona, Nevada, Georgia and Pennsylvania play such a significant role in the outcome of the election?
What are the pros and cons of the electoral college process? Does our current system ensure that "every vote counts?"
For those that advocate change, is it realistic or possible that this could even happen?
What would have to be done legally to change from an electoral college system to a popular vote for the White House?
