An ultrasound shows the placenta does not cover the cervix and remains well-attached to the uterus. Vaginal bleeding continues with small amounts of occasional bright red spotting on pads. FHTs remain unchanged. Lab results: Hct/Hgb=10.1/31 WBCs = 8,000 UDS for cocaine - proteinuria The patient was admitted for antepartum surveillance. One hour later, the antepartum nurse notes: FHR baseline increased to 170 with no accelerations and repetitive late decelerations Vaginal bleeding increased Pt now reports sharp abdominal pain (8/10) Contractions are every 2-3 min Uterus remains firm between contractions VS: BP 150/72 ; HR 110; RR 22; Temp 97.90F; O2 96% Now what are the priority nursing interventions and why?
