In response to this tragic statistic, a company out of Vancouver, Big Bite, has developed a technology that could be used to detect sharks from distances up to 1 km away and alert swimmers to the inherent danger of entering the water - thus allowing swimmers that opportunity to safely exit the water and avoiding an attack. Big Bite sees a large and lucrative market for its technology in Brazil and hopes to enter that market, using a Joint-Venture with a Brazilian partner, in the next 12-18 months.
