Case Study: The KJC Insurance company just hired Rosa as an administrative assistant. She had years of experience being an assistant but in different fields. She had been an assistant in a dealership company, an appliance company, and in a school. Rosa was assigned to be responsible for all the paperwork under the supervision of Nina, a finance broker. The job description does not require certain knowledge regarding finance, it only requires years of administrative background. Rosa was hired because she is a quick learner and can easily adapt to a new environment.
A month after Rosa's training, she had a hard time managing her workload that she had to bring her work at home to be on time. Her supervisor keeps giving her work, knowing that she had been struggling with the workload. Nina has not been very welcoming to Rosa since she started working with KJC Insurance. Nina often swears quietly every time she hears something unpleasant which is why Rosa often feels uncomfortable towards her. Rosa tried to talk to Nina regarding the problem she had been facing and offered some solutions that would be effective in managing her workload. Nina discouraged Rosa and referred to her as incompetent quietly. She did not offer any help and forced Rosa to finish the work by herself. Nina also threatened the termination of Rosa if she was not able to finish her work on time. Rosa talked to the HR manager as she felt mistreated by the way Nina talked to her.
