This assignment is a research based essay where you are required to relate a practical example to accounting theory. You have been given one newspaper report but there are many other sources you can and should use.
The relationship between accounting research and professional practice has been discussed in the literature (Parker, Guthrie & Linacre 2011). Using the article provided discuss and critically evaluate the following:
- What are the possible accounting issues faced by Volkswagen?
- Who are the stakeholders who have been effected by the Volkswagens actions? Describe each stakeholder, their concerns and how they are likely to be effected.
- Detail what you believe motivated the management of Volkswagens to act in the way they did.
