You should understand the digestive system so that you can articulate the implications of surgeries that alter the digestive tract for the purpose of weight loss. Obviously, not every medical professional thinks it is a bad thing. Doctors perform this surgery every day.

In response to Jake's perspective, answer the following question:

• What are the physiological implications of a gastric band, gastric sleeve, and gastrointestinal bypass? 

In response you must include the following:

• Imagine you have food in your mouth. Using the correct anatomical order, mention the organs of the alimentary canal that the initial bolus has to go through from the mouth to the anus.
• Then, describe the difference in the way the system would function if there were a band, sleeve, or bypass. Are there any repercussions of having these interventions in the system? If you think there are, please describe them.
• Next, describe the pathways the air has to go through from the nose to the alveoli. Explain the function of each organ in the breathing process. Specifically, describe the process of breathing and gas exchange.
• Finally, offer at least two implications of weight gain on this breathing process.
