In a research study investigating the effectiveness of social and emotional learning programs with diverse youth, the researcher wants to determine the appropriateness of the lessons for multicultural students. The purpose is to examine schools implementation of Social and Emotional learning (SEL) programs without considering the student's cultural background. The researcher wants to explore the perceptions of school counselors and school social workers regarding SEL program effectiveness with multicultural groups. The researcher also wants to investigate students' perceptions regarding program effectiveness. Lastly, the aim of this study is also to determine essential elements of SEL programs, if any that have been successful with culturally diverse students.

Research questions

(a) What are the perceptions of school counselors and school social workers regarding the effectiveness of Social and Emotional learning programs in addressing the needs of diverse student groups?

(b) How are school counselors and school social workers making making modifications, if any, to the SEL curriculum to address the needs of diverse youth?

(d) What are the essential elements of SEL programs, if any, that have been successful with culturally diverse youth?
