At two days of age, Kari demonstrated signs and symptoms of neonatal abstinence syndrome (NAS). She received therapy for the first two months until her mother began missing outpatient appointments. Today, Kari is 7 months corrected age. Kari's mother is single, 26 years old, and lives with four friends and two children in a government-subsidized apartment complex.

Dawn is a pediatric occupational therapist and will be completing Kari's infant screening in two days.
