Assignment - Instructions
Given below are the 6 steps to be followed.
1. 2 documents are to be completed. 1 Excel file and 1 word file. Examples for these have been given and the exact same format is to be followed.
2. Start off with the excel file. The given example is for a tea shop and the one needed to be done is for a Mobile Salon. A salon which is build on a vehicle and visits the customer houses to provide the service.
3. Below given are the required topics in the Excel file. Given in the example with each excel tab.
• Sales Forecast (for three years) - The given example has "tea products and snacks" as the data sets and this must be changed to match a mobile salon. Any services offered from a mobile salon such as hair cuts and hair coloring can be used. Use about 5 services. The numbers are hypothetical to begin with but must make sense in terms of costs, revenues, profits, balances and etc.
• Cash flow Projections (for three years) - Same as above. The numbers must make sense and the data must be changed to match services of a mobile salon.
• Income Statement (Profit and Loss Account) (Assume a 20% tax rate when calculating Net Income) (3 Income Statements Years 1,2,3) - Same as above. The numbers must make sense and must match the values given earlier in the sales forecast and cashflow projections.
• Balance Sheet (4 balance sheets: Years 0,1,2,3) - Same as above. The numbers must make sense and the data must be related to the earlier values in the sales forecast and etc.
• Break even Analysis (when will your business breakeven. Show calculation) - Same as above. The numbers must make sense and the data must be related to the earlier values in the sales forecast and etc.
• Estimating Financing Requirements (this may or may not be relevant depending on whether you have adequate capital) - Same as above. The numbers must make sense and the data must be related to the earlier values in the sales forecast and etc.
• Stress Testing Business Projections (+/- 10% and +/- worst case scenario) - Same as above. The numbers must make sense and the data must be related to the earlier values in the sales forecast and etc.
• Financial Controls (who and how) - Same as above. The numbers must make sense and the data must be related to the earlier values in the sales forecast and etc.
• Business Ratios relevant for your business and industry (What are the five most important ratios for your business and show calculations) - Same as above. The numbers must make sense and the data must be related to the earlier values in the sales forecast and etc.
• Sales and Marketing Controls (what could go wrong and how will you protect the company) - Same as above. The numbers must make sense and the data must be related to the earlier values in the sales forecast and etc.
• Other business controls (eg. Inventory control or fx exposure) (what could go wrong and how will you protect the company) -Same as above. The numbers must make sense and the data must be related to the earlier values in the sales forecast and etc.
4. The excel file should have footnotes in the same places as the given example to explain how the values were obtained.
5. Then the details of this excel file must be copied on to a word file as given in the example and the same order of the example. The footnotes must be explained as given in the example.
6. To put everything simply, we need one excel file and one word file as same format as the given 2 examples and only the numbers and details are to be changed to match a mobile salon business instead of a teashop given in the example. The numbers must make sense and should show that the business is profitable and will not go bankrupt.
Considerations:
• All data expressed in Canadian dollars for a Canadian reader
• Time frame: 3 years
• Year 1 to be completed on a monthly basis. Years 2 and 3 to be completed on a monthly basis
• Extensive footnotes required to explain how numbers were derived
• Recommend completion of documents on excel and then cut and paste to a word file and submit all documents.
