This week we're talking about Enterprise Applications – Business Communications. Supply Chain management is for those organizations who need to source supplies from others – e.g. manufacturers, retailers, whereas Customer Relations Management and ERP are for everybody. In some of my questions below, I have “changed the examples to protect the innocent” but really, I've been trying to think of some different examples (rather than relying on the text book) to get you all thinking!
Supply Chain (SCM), Customer Relations Management (CRM) and ERP
1. What are the key components of a CRM system? Does the U.S. Government use CRM? What else might the Government use a CRM-type system for?
2. Could “CRC” use a CRM and if so, how might they use it? What kind of data might be put into it? What data would you gather about the customers to be able to answer those questions? What would be the top two business benefits Myra could gain from this business intelligence? What should she tell the customers about why she is collecting data about them? How could she induce the customers to provide their data?
3. For CRC, please consider the following:
1. Which loyal customers are good for the business?
2. How do we hang onto them?
3. How do we get more customers like them?
