Case Study: Andi has just been hired by ABC Inc. to take over the management of a web site development project. Andi is going to be managing a team of 10 programmers, a marketing person, a graphic artist, a photographer, a writer and a translator.

One of the 10 programmers is being paid through a corporation of which the programmer is the sole shareholder and director. Four of the 10 programmers are hired through a consulting firm - KPAC Inc.The rest are employees of ABC Inc. and have entered into employment contracts prepared by a good law firm.
The graphic artist is being paid, but does not have a contract of any sort. Also, the programmers do not like dealing with the graphic artist so they have been: (i) stretching and skewing the graphic artist's work when putting it into the website - most of the time it isn't very obvious but a few are very clearly manipulated and none of the graphic artist's images look the way that they should. The graphic artist hasn't seen the finished web site yet, so they do not know about the manipulations yet.
The photographer has a three-month contract that is going to expire shortly. The contract does not include an IP assignment provision.
The writer is an employee of ABC Inc. For the first few months of the project the writer was providing wholly original written work that met the specifications provided by ABC Inc. For the past month, the writer has been using ChatGPT and another text generator that does all the writing for the site.
The translator (who is working on the materials submitted by the writer) insisted on a thorough contract. The contract assigns the translator's rights in the translations to ABC Inc. upon payment in full for the translations. The contract also includes a provision that states that ABC Inc. will not ask the translator to translate anything for which ABC Inc.does not have the rights.
