You received a report regarding a 10 month old infant at the hospital with fractured ribs, a skull fracture, and retinal bleeding. The child is in ICU and was resuscitated in the ER. The mother first reported that the baby fell out of the bed. When hospital staff talked with the mother later she reported the baby fell on her head when her six year old sister dropped her. It is reported that dad was home during the incident, but was asleep. After talking with hospital personnel you discover the child has been seen three previous times in the ER. One visit was due to the child having minor bruising to the head and a small laceration. At that time mom reported the baby fell and hit the coffee table while trying to pull up and walk.
