A temperature transmitter has an input range of 0 to 100degrees celsius, an output range of 4 to 20 mA, and anaccuracy of ± 0.5%. The ideal transmitter has a linear output from 4 mA at 0 degrees celsius to 20 mA at 100 degrees celsius. If the output of the transmitter is 13.6 mA, what are the ideal, minimum and maximum possible temperatures?

Ideal linear output of transmitter is 4 mA at 0 degrees C and20 mA at 100 degrees C. Range = 0 - 100 degrees C
Accuracy = ±0.5%
Output = 13.6 mA
Range of 0 - 100 degrees compared to 4 mA - 20 mA
Ideal value of temp = 5 x output current = 13.6 x 5 = 68degrees C
Therefore ideal temp = 68 degrees C
Now, accuracy is ±5% of the full scale or ±0.005x 100 = 0.5
Ideal min = 68-0.5 = 67.5 dgress
Ideal max = 68 + 0.5 = 68.5
