1. Now, let's look at more than one gene at the same time, and calculate the ratios for phenotypes and genotypes possible. In pea plants, yellow colored peas (Y) are dominant to green colored peas (y), and round peas (R) are dominant to wrinkled peas (r). For this problem, you will first determine the possible gametes from the parents - both are heterozygous dominant for yellow round peas. To do this, you will use the FOIL method (used in algebraic expression). Gametes should contain only 1 allele for pea color and 1 for pea shape (think about meiosis). Then, you will complete the larger Punnett square (16 boxes for the offspring, with the 4 possible gametes from one parent at the top, and the 4 possible gametes for the second parent on the left side) provided as an image below. The easiest way to solve for the genotype and phenotype ratios is to place the gamete produced from the "first" gametes in the first gamete box on the Punnett square, the gamete from the "second" gamete in the second gamete box, and so on according to the order of the FOIL process.

a. What are the genotypes of the parents?

b. What are the possible gametes from these parents?

c. Complete the Punnett square below and answer these parts ** pay close attention to the diagonals as you complete the square; if you put the gametes in properly, a pattern will emerge to help answer this question more quickly:

i. Provide the possible phenotypes of the offspring from these parents and include the ratio of each phenotype.

ii. Provide the possible genotypes of the offspring from these parents and include the ratio of each genotype.
