The nervous system can be divided into the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system. The CNS comprises the brain and spinal cord. The brain has many different divisions or sections. There is the brainstem, which houses the medulla oblongata, the pons and the midbrain. Another section is the cerebellum, the diencephalon and the cerebrum. All these function together to provide one of the most important functions of our body such as allowing us to think, eat, drink, see, smell among many other things. The spinal cord is also a part of the CNS and has major importance as well.
