Question 1: List ALL the components of blood and give their functions (i.e., you would list erythrocytes, leukocytes, thrombocytes, their functions, as well as the buffy coat, and the components of the plasma (otherwise, you have not answered the question!)
Question 2: Is our circulatory system "open" or "closed"? What does each of these terms mean (look them up online!)? What is the significance of an open or closed circulatory system? Why is the type of circulatory system in humans significant to our being?
Question 3: Define arteries and veins and capillaries and what they do. Compare the physical structures of veins with those of arteries. Which one has the larger lumen? The greatest musculature? An endothelial lining? Which one has the highest blood pressure (explain). What is the blood pressure when blood is entering the right atrium of the heart?
Question 4: What are the functions of blood? Identify EACH function and give a thorough answer!
Question 5: What do we mean by the "color" of blood? Does its color depend on anything? If so, what is it? What is the color of blood in the arteries (explain); what is the color of blood in the veins (explain).
Question 6: What is meant by "viscosity." Is blood more viscous or less viscous than water? Why is that important? Explain your reasoning. Is the viscosity of blood of any significance?
