Final Project Assignment: Observing a Leader
1. Identify the name of the person you shadowed and interviewed, the name of the organization they are associated with, and the leadership role they hold. Include any background information related to their education, work experience, and leadership roles held.
2. Discuss why you selected this person to shadow/interview.
3. Summarize the main points of the interview and discuss what you learned about his or her leadership
4. Based on your observations, identify his or her leadership style and discuss how this relates to the leadership styles learned in class.
5. What are the issues of leadership in which he or she deals with on a daily basis? How does the leader handle conflict? Be sure to make connections with the concepts learned in class.
6. During the shadow observation, how did the leader motivate followers? Please give an example.
7. From your observations, does the leader value diversity and create an inclusive work environment? Explain, using examples from the shadowing experience.
8. What are the ethical responsibilities of this leader? Explain, using references to the text or other sources. You can include information from the activity done in Module 7, too.
9. What did you learn from the shadowing/interview experience that made the most impact on you and why? What did you learn from this leader that can be used in your own leadership practice?
10. How does what you learned in the shadow/interview either validate, refute, or reinforce what you have learned about leadership in this class? Make specific reference to theories, models, etc.
