Case Study:

John tells his counselor that he just found out he is terminally ill, has 6 months to live, and is seriously considering ending his life with the assistance of a physician through medically assisted death/suicide. His counselor, Ava, tells John that she is concerned he may not have all of the information he needs to make a decision. Ava asks him if he has spoken with friends and family. She is worried about his emotional state and his ability to make a decision.
