a. Some horses have a beautiful coat called a roan coat. R is the allele for red hair and r is the allele for white hair. Horses with a roan coat are heterozygous for the hair color gene. They have both red and white hairs over most of their body. A red male mates with a roan female. What fraction of the offspring would be expected to be roan color?

b. The blue merle coloration is a recessive trait in collies. If a blue merle and a heterozygous individual have pups what are the chances of the pair having a pup with the blue merle coloration.

c. Cobras have many beautiful colors. These colors are controlled by many different genes. Let's consider 3 genes that control the hue of coloration on the cobras. A snake with dark coloration will be homozygous dominant (EEGGRR) for all three traits. A snake with light coloration will be homozygous recessive (eeggrr) for all three traits. A snake with a heterozygous genotype for all three traits will have a mid-level coloration. If a snake with dark coloration bred with a snake with mid-level coloration what are the chances of getting a baby cobra with dark coloration? Calculate the probability that their baby would have dark coloration.

d. Canaries have incompletely dominant inheritance for some of their coloration including the blue coloration on their head. If you cross a pink headed canary (PP) with a blue headed canary (pp), what are the chances of getting a purple headed canary?
