Assignment:
The purpose of your reflections in this final assessment is to synthesize the information you have gathered this term into a coherent story of career exploration.
Please respond to the questions with specific examples and/or stories from your life that support your reactions, opinions, and decisions. Use the activities in this course to guide your responses. Your answers should specifically address aspects of this class that were meaningful and helpful to you and that demonstrate how you are applying the knowledge you have acquired this term to your career decision-making.
The scenario: Imagine that a good friend comes to you to get your advice. Although your friend is enjoying classes and does value graduating with a degree before entering the workforce, they are struggling with choosing a major. Your friend has a few ideas about careers that sound interesting, but they are only ideas. They are not sure how to move forward and is getting a lot of pressure from family and even a few faculty members "to commit". The squeeze of time and money are adding additional pressure to make "the right" choice. However, there is a glimmer of hope! During this term, you have shared a little bit about your own experiences in ALS 114: Career Decision Making. Your friend sees you taking steps forward in your own career-decision making and has chosen you for the guidance you can offer now.
Font essay, provide your best advice to a friend who needs a framework for working through the career decision-making process. Each question has several parts, so make sure you read the question and respond thoughtfully & thoroughly. Given what you have learned in this course,
1. What are the 3 steps of the career decision-making model we used to guide our work in this class? Which step should your friend begin with, and why is this your advice?
2. For each step, name 2 specific strategies, exercises, or tools from the class which you found useful that you would suggest your friend use, too. Explain why you are choosing each one and how it was valuable to you.
3. Finally, share with your friend what your very NEXT STEPS regarding your career will be.
What has changed already as a result of your work in this class?
Specifically, in the next 1-5 years, what do you plan to do to continue working on your own career development, both inside and outside of the classroom?
