Select the area that you think is MOST important to focus on. Why do you think it's more important than the other items? What are some suggestions to combat these public health crises? research as needed.
3. In developing countries, the major causes of infant mortality are mainly that of infectious diseases (Hoffman, 1992). As you've learned because of the control of many communicable diseases in the US, infant and child mortality has dropped.
However, in countries that still experience high rates of infectious disease, they also experience high infant/child mortality. Conversely, it is said that a symptom of high infant/child mortality is high fertility. Meaning, the risk of children not reaching adulthood influences parents to produce more children (Kaplan, 2013).
Explain your thoughts on the control of infectious disease and therefore the privilege people in the US are afforded in having greater autonomy in deciding family size - and what that means for the trajectory of their lives as parents. I.e. Greater financial/career choice freedom, ability to achieve desired birth spacing, etc.
