Case: An important design consideration is what device the interface will be used on. Here you will explore the differences between a website and a mobile application.

Find a website that also has a mobile application (such as Amazon®, Walmart®, ESPN®, etc.). Compare the mobile app with the website. If you do not have access to a smartphone or tablet with a mobile app, meet with a friend to look over their phone and an app they use and then compare with the website.

For observation activities, provide the initial post  words (do not copy the questions) and write in paragraph form as described below.

the  initial post's first paragraph:

  • Compare how the mobile app differs from the website.
  • Are there features that are available on one but not the other? Describe them.
  • How is the text different on the application versus the website?
  • What are some things the designers had to take into consideration when designing for the mobile application?
  • What improvements would you recommend for the website? For the mobile application?

the  initial post's second paragraph:

  • Explain which of these two is easier to use, and why.
  • Explain which of these two interfaces you prefer, and why.
