Here is the question:
Decentralization of DHS Functions
What are some of the merits of decentralization of DHS functions in the future?
Freddy Guzman
I believe decentralization of DHS functions can benefit those states a lot as they will have the capabilities and staff to handle the situation as it arises. Although DHS is a federal entity just like any higher echelon allowing your subordinate entities have control of situations would be beneficial as they would be first to respond or as how they say in the Marine Corps first to mitigate the friction point. This will allow DHS to worry about the bigger topic items because the states could handle what is in their jurisdiction. But at any time and point federal can take command if there shows know signs of progress or negligence.

When it comes to the topic of decentralization of the DHS functions, or in other ways matter of expanding the DHS. There are a wide verity of things in which the DHS can expand it self to ensure improvement, and as well better functionality throughout the united states. One of the biggest things in which the DHS can work on improving and expanding on improving the job, would be boarder patrol being as there is still much work to be done to fix our broken immigration system. But being as our Border Patrol has never had a larger or more sophisticated inventory of technology and equipment to carry out its mission, it clear to see areas of improvement that can be made to ensure the job is done well before expanding. (Homeland Security, n.d.). Improvements such a drones, more areas for border crossing to take place, and as well increased amount of individuals who are properly trained.
