2.) Good communication skills can make other people perceive you differently as a person. They could gain respect for you in the fact that you show self confidence in your words and composure.
3.) Learning how to communicate properly is not only something useful for school but rather a critical life skill. If you go into a field of work in the future where speaking publicly is necessary it's best to know how to properly speak to an audience.
4.) Communication practices can help you see that the way in which you speak can be impacted by your community. Your communication itself can impact the community you are in or the people you speak to.
5.) Healthy communication knowledge can help your relationships with others. Having the ability to speak properly and know the impact of your words can help you in the future with the way you speak publicly or privately to others.

Application : The way in which we see people based off of how they carry themselves while they communicate is very intriguing. If someone is giving a presentation and they seem like they don't know anything about it and want to get it over with the initial reaction to have is that you are not interested or focused on what they are speaking about. If someone is speaking with a strong voice and sound like they know what they are talking about and they are confident you see them with more respect.

Communication is very effective if someone is trying to persuade another or build credibility. While I was serving jury duty, the person on the stand had amazing communication skills; I will never forget it because even if their actions did not speak the same volumes as his words did, they influenced the jury to decide that he was not guilty.
