Question: What is the key idea behind this and what are some discussion questions to be made

Physical discipline is an indispensable aspect of leadership, and it is essential to the day-to-day effectiveness and combat readiness of your organization.

The institution places such a high priority on a Marine's physical discipline that MCO 1500.62 and MCO 6100.14 mandate commanders allow time for PT as part of the daily routine.

Physical fitness requirements can be accomplished through tactical movement or other occupational related activities, swimming, Marine Corps Martial Arts, unit PT, or individual training sessions.

Build physical training into the daily training schedule by using your unit resources and creativity to optimize the mental and physical performance of your Marines, but first and foremost, you must set the example in this healthy lifestyle.

Physical fitness is a way of life and Marines are renowned for this particular quality, yet some stray from this warrior ethos. Marine leaders must not only maintain their own fitness, but also guide subordinates toward creating sustainable physical discipline. It is the way.

High Performance Intensity Tactical Training:

A comprehensive strength and conditioning program that provides programs, facilities, and education for Marines focusing on physical resiliency and combat readiness.

Phases of workout include pre-deployment, deployment, and post-deployment, or building individual workout templates, so the Marine can fully develop and maintain their readiness.

HITT offers 150 pre-designed workouts with 8 HITT centers, 26 fitness centers, and 106 HITT lockers across Marine Corps installations.

Designed to improve performance of mission specific combat readiness, a HITT Coordinator can assist you in developing the right plan for you and your Marines.

Marine Corps Martial Arts Program:

MCMAP is an integrated, weapons-based system that incorporates the full spectrum of the force continuum on the battlefield and contributes to the mental, moral, and physical development of Marines.

Hand-to-hand combat dates back to the boarding parties of the Continental Marines. Nothing builds warrior ethos more than the confidence of knowing how to take care of yourself when push comes to shove.

MCMAP is a supporting effort to the Marine Corps Physical Fitness Program that aims to strengthen the mental and moral resiliency of individual Marines. It enhances the transition from civilian to Marine and the confidence gained is demonstrated in a Marine's pride and a unit's esprit de corps

Marksmanship:

As members of an elite profession of arms, Marines must be skilled and highly proficient in the use of firearms. It gets to the very heart of our warrior culture.

From Wake Island in WWII to Camp Bastion in the War on Terrorism, Marines of all MOSs have found themselves battling enemy ground forces.

While some MOSs may not require a service weapon to conduct daily operations in garrison, combat operations predicate our use of weapons. Allowing Marines to work with and master their individual weapons reinforces an indomitable warrior spirit and the concept "Every Marine a Rifleman."

Your Marines must be ready and have the confidence to engage when necessary.

Physical Fitness:

Physical fitness contributes to the health and well-being of every Marine through regular exercise, health education, and fitness testing.

High levels of physical fitness in a unit lead to equally high levels of morale, discipline, proficiency, and esprit de corps. The Marines will feel indomitable and be able to adjust to changes with very little effort.

Developing a physical discipline within yourself and your Marines will gain the unit intangible benefits, which will be evident in every aspect of their duties.

Marines expect physically challenging duties. If not sustained, their warrior ethos begins to erode.

Combat Conditioning Program:

The total fitness and combat readiness of the individual Marine is one of the Marine Corps' highest priorities.

Combat conditioning may include MCMAP, MCWSTP, or other operation specific training that develops the strength and condition of Marines.

Combat conditioning programs are not to be developed solely for the preparation of the Combat Fitness Test. Strength training should be conducted twice a week and consist of compound, functional movements.

Ensure these training events are conducted progressively to provide for adaptation and avoid injury.

Marine Corps Water Survival Training:

Marines are amphibious in nature and expected to operate in the littoral regions of the world. Being comfortable in the water is a necessity that all Marines must gain.

By reducing fear and raising self-confidence, water survival skills equip Marines with the ability to confidently negotiate water obstacles and survive in emergency aquatic situations.

Water survival training also provides excellent low impact cardiovascular exercise while developing the confidence to not just operate but excel in any clime and place.
