In the film we saw the actions of the artificial intelligence (AI) VIKI to be a serious problem for the company that generated her. Presumably the motivation for VIKI's takeover was she believed the only way to keep the largest number of humans safe from harm is to take away their ability to hurt each other--even if this comes at the cost of a certain number of human lives, it still benefits more people than it harms (at least according to her calculations). Clearly a "utilitarian-based" objective, similar to what we saw in the decision made by Ford about the Pinto. Artificial intelligence is more and more prevalent in society, and is being used for everything from weapons to HR hiring managers.

Keeping the above issues in mind, along with the other uses of AI in the film, please answer the following:

1. What are some advantages of artificial intelligence? (at least 3 with examples)

2. What are some disadvantages of artificial intelligence? (at least 3 with examples)

3. Artificial Intelligence has been described as a double-edged sword. Review the advantages and disadvantages you have provided. Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, or vice-versa? Support your answer.
