The day shift at the hospital's radiology department is from 8 am to 4:00 PM. There is only one radiologist to assist patients who can typically treat 4 patients per hour (the service time follows an exponential distribution). An average of 29 customers come to radiology during the day shift. They are served on a first come, first served basis and arrival rate follows a Poisson distribution.

What are the radiology department's arrival and service rate?

What is the average number of patients in the waiting line and the average time waiting in line?

What is the average total time spent in the system? is this answer coherent with those given above? Justify.

The hospital is thinking of hiring a second radiologist to help in assisting the same group of patients. If a second radiologist is hired, how much time will patients wait in line on average?
