Discussion Post: American Diet Regarding Food Systems
In this module, you have three readings regarding food systems. Based on those readings as well as the video lectures, write a post that describes what a food system is and what it comprises (i.e., what is included in it). What are the primary outcomes of a food system based on your readings? Do you agree with the authors' assertions regarding these outcomes? Be very specific. That is, do you think food systems should be designed for the outcomes espoused in these models, or should there be other values built in to how food systems work? Finally, why should we think about food from a 'systems' perspective? What value is there, if any, in moving beyond eating behaviors and health outcomes of individuals?
