What are possible sources of error when doing and experiment to calculate shear force? Basically in each trial a point load was attached to a beam and in each trial the point load was increased. The experimental value was calculated by the machine and the theoretical values were also calculated through a computer simulation. As the point load increases, each trial's experimental value and theoretical value of shear force get further apart. In the first and second trial they were very close to each other.
