GM is using some of that power to market products and services to drivers by making relevant offers as they move on down the road. An interesting avenue to pursue could be whether there is even a need for this functionality in an automobile given that similar capabilities are all available on a smartphone. This becomes an even greater threat to the vehicle-specific systems as car manufacturers offer increasingly easier integration between the smartphone and the car's sound system.
