Project Objective: To simulate the recruitment and selection process for your company and select the best candidate for a job opening.

Background Research, Job Analysis.

Collect information through your own research and through using the O'Net and NOC Websites.

You will collect information on the company, its business strategy and competitive advantage, and how it currently recruits and selects for the open positions. You will need to identify the position you will be conducting your analysis on. You also need to identify how the position is strategic for the company in some way.

Background and Job Analysis: Executive Summary and Sample Materials:

You will:

Write a 2 to 3 pages executive summary and include as an appendix all additional requirements, e.g. Job Analysis Process Outline, Summary of KSOAs, Job Requirement Matrix, the job description and person specifications.

Draft a report to include your background research on the organization and the job (e.g. describe your job analysis and findings). You need to include the following in your report and executive summary:

Question 1) A brief summary of the organization, its business strategy, and its culture, it's products/services, and the job opening

Question 2) An explanation of why the position you selected is strategic for the company.

Question 3) What are the implications of having low versus high performers in the job?

Question 4) Describe the strategic context of your proposal for recruiting and selecting for this job.

Question 5) What must future hires be able to do to help the company execute its business strategy?

Question 6) Develop an approximate timeline covering the period from job posting to the new hire beginning work.

Question 7) Summarize your job analysis and the findings. You may want to summarize the findings in a job requirements matrix. You will need to identify which qualifications are essential and which are desirable in new hires.

Question 8) Develop a formal job description for the position that includes the key responsibilities, qualifications, skills and experience required for the position.
