Assignment: Lead and Manage Organisational Change
Analyze an report on an operational change in an organization.
For this assignment, you will report on and analyze a major operational change in an organization of your choice. Choose any Australian based organization that has undergone a major operational change in the last couple of years (examples such as change of management, change to online operations, change of location, change or business model, etc).
Make sure that you are able to contact this organization as you will need to interview and consult with relevant stakeholders, specialists or experts within the organization to complete the assessment. Follow these tasks to complete the assessment:
Part I
Contact a relevant manager, stakeholder, specialist or expert within the organization and write the interview with them. Where you address the following points:
1. What is the name of the organization and their business activity?
2. Briefly describe the operational change experienced by the organization and the reasons for the change.
3. Identify and explain risks and opportunities presented by the operational change.
4. What are the existing policies and practices used to guide the change?
5. Identify the main resources/requirements needed to maintain the following:
a. Organizational objectives
b. Performance (Was there any performance gap during the change?)
c. Relevant management decisions relevant to the operational change.
6. How did the organization support the staff to help them understand the benefits of the change, and not be negatively impacted by it?
7. What was the organization's process or strategy for communicating and embedding the change?
8. What are the main priorities for the future of the organization after the operational change?
Part II
Prepare a written report about the operational change based on the information you collected during the interview, and any other additional relevant information you may have access to. Please address the following points:
1. Explain how the organization could respond to the threats and take advantage of the opportunities that this change has brought.
2. Explain how the events or trends of the operational change impacted on the achievement of the organizational objectives.
3. Explain how the events or trends of the operational change impacted on the organizational behavior.
4. What were the main internal and external resources affected by the operational change? Explain the impact and evaluate the response of the organization.
5. Evaluate the organization's response to support, promote and communicate the organizational change among their staff.
6. Based on your consultation during the interview, provide a recommendation on how the business should communicate future organizational changes to their staff.
7. Provide and explain a recommendation on how the organization could identify and respond to barriers to the change, according to their risk plans and organizational objectives.
8. After your review and evaluation of the organization's response to this change, what would you modify or recommend ensuring the future achievement of the organizational objectives?
