Based on the case study below, what are current organizational problems Fred's Cola has? A minimum of 5 strategic, structural and other total rewards factors.
Case Study
As part of the acquisitions, Fred's Cola now has a new warehouse setup. New technology has been implemented both in the warehouse and in the office sections of the building. The telephone system is currently in the process of being replaced with a more modern computer-based technology system. The company is also hoping to have a larger on-line presence with the ability for retailers to order directly from their website.
In addition, many employees had to adjust to the company's new location. To keep employees happy, the General Manager decided to let each employee keep their salary (base pay only) and benefits package (medical/dental) that they had prior to the acquisition. However, there has been no comprehensive compensation analysis done in more than 5 years. As a result, there are no other forms of direct or indirect compensation in place for employees, except for what is statutorily required.
Now that the acquisitions have stopped, Fred's Cola wants to control their compensation costs. At the same time, the company also values their employees and want to keep them engaged and productive. Fred's Cola has always operated with family values. Many of the original staff are direct relatives of the General Manager. Harmony and collaboration are very important to the company. The new employee population is very diverse compared to how things were prior to the acquisitions.
There a number of adjustments that need to happen within the company's overall organizational structure and the various positions therein. Fred's Cola hopes that at some point, a larger food and beverage company will purchase them as the owner would like to retire from his General Manager duties within the next 5 years.
