In 1964, President L. B. Johnson declared a war on poverty and established what are called "great society" policies. The goal was to bring an end to poverty. In the following thirty years, trillions of dollars were spent on socialist policies aimed at eliminating poverty with little, if any, success. In 1994, President Clinton reformed the welfare system in an effort to improve it. Ten years later, trillions more have been invested with little evidence that this program has been successful either. Given these outcomes, should government continue these programs-does it makes sense to you and why. What kind of program do they think would be better?
